There is no greater love, no greater purpose than being a parent. Whether you actually conceive and give birth to a child, adopt, or otherwise find yourself being a parent, there is nothing more challenging or rewarding.
I miss when my babes were small enough to hold in my arms. When giving them a bath, smelling their hair, tickling their toes, and blowing raspberries on their tummies was a daily occurrence.
But when I see my daughter as the young woman who gives joy, helps people, and spreads kindness, I cannot stop myself from feeling proud. I helped make her the way she is.
Yes, my mother taught me well. People around me gave me clues. I read books and watched other parents. I made decisions based on all of this to mold my young lady into someone who can be a change agent. She has faced difficulties. She works hard. She nurtures relationships.
My darling, as you face the next big steps in your life like learning to drive and choosing a college/career, know that you will always be loved. You are my rock and my pillow. You are my guide and my follower. You are my child and my parent. YOU are my WORLD!
And they say you should post on a regular basis. I have been lax.
Went on vacation with the most beautiful girl in the word, my daughter. We visited the west coast. San Francisco Zoo is awesome.
We also visited Wolf Haven International, a wolf sanctuary in Tenino Washington. As we were awaiting the beginning of the tour, all the wolves began howling. The guide said, “They never do this in the middle of the day.” It was about 1 pm and hot. Mostly the wolves chill out in the heat of the day. We actually met all of the residents of Wolf Haven except the coyotes who decided to hide. I’m adding a link to the site’s gallery. Check out the beautiful past and present inhabitants. Donate if you feel so inclined. Or set up a visit.
All in all, it was one of my favorite vacations. Not just the places we visited nor the things we did but the fact that my daughter and I did it together.
We have been slammed with snow lately and rumors are, more is coming. I am done with this! I went to work today, gripping the steering wheel of my husband’s car so tightly… He didn’t want to get up and move his car so I could take mine out of the garage. Took me a while to clean it off. UGH.
So, very few people were at work. I guess I was one of the dumb ones. I worked for about two hours until the precipitation turned to ice, trudged out to the car, scrapped it off, and headed home. By this time, the streets were at least plowed. Still, the ride is full of twists and hills. I think I held my breathe the entire way.
I get home just as hubby is clearing the driveway. Our road had not been plowed! *&^#R*(&@&! I left his car in the road and waved as he passed me with the snow-blower. I was already frozen from standing in the snow to clean off his car.
When he was done, he had cleared out the side where he parks his car in nice weather so he didn’t have to get up tomorrow when once more I have to attempt to go to work. This time I have to be there to finish payroll.
The snow stopped around six pm and Hubby had to go out again because the plows finally came by.
Six more weeks of this crap until Spring! Will I survive??? I have for many years but the winter weather is beginning to take its toll.
Nah, I’ll stay in New England…
